Led by Planning Director, Thijs Bax, our team have over 20 years’ combined experience, providing services & solutions for all rural and urban based development needs and opportunities. We have a well-rounded background within the planning industry, having worked within the local planning authority, architectural design, planning consultancy and house building fields. Combining this expertise with a proactive, can-do approach means we are able to secure the very best development opportunities for our clients.

THIJS BAX
PLANNING DIRECTOR
Thijs graduated with a BA (Hons) Degree in Law with Sociology from Durham University (St Marys College), obtaining his Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Westminster. He is an elected Chartered Member of the Royal Town & Planning Institute (MRTPI).
Thijs’ experience is across various planning sectors, including as a Planning Officer within the Development Management team at Ashford Borough Council for in excess of five years, working on a range of minor and major applications across the borough. Other roles include being Planning Manager for a regional house builder, preparing & promoting residential schemes across Kent as well as Town Planner for an independent national planning practice, working on various residential projects.
Thijs is supported by the wider team who bring a wealth of experience across a range of fields of expertise.

SARAH WATERS
OFFICE MANAGER
Sarah is the friendly voice that you will hear at the end of the phone. As the Office Manager, she plays an integral role in connecting the practice to clients. She also deals with the administration at Kent Planning Consultancy and helps to ensure that the business is run smoothly.
Sarah has worked in both the construction industry and within home improvement, along with numerous other ventures that aid her in her role. She has used this experience to implement several systems to ensure the day to day running of the consultancy is as streamlined and efficient as possible.
Outside of work you can find Sarah buried in a book, painting, cooking or in a good country pub. She is passionate about heritage buildings and all things beautiful; from art and sculpture to literature and classic cars and the stunning countryside we are surrounded by.

ALICE BEEKEN
TOWN PLANNER
Alice is the newest addition to the team at Kent Planning Consultancy, and joined the team as a Town Planner in 2022.
Alice obtained a first-class honours degree in Urban and Environmental Planning BA from London Southbank University, during her career as a planning officer at Kent County Council where she amassed almost 9 years of experience as a planning officer, in both development management and planning policy. She has always maintained a positive approach to planning for future development in her previous and current role.
She spends most of her free time with her two dogs, and loves travelling and visiting new places, especially cities.
